Portman Architects seeks highly motivated and resourceful Design Architects to join our Firm’s Project Leadership Team. The ideal candidate must be a licensed architect and demonstrate experience leading teams in the design and documentation of hospitality, mixed-used, adaptive re-use, high-rise multi-family residential and other commercial projects.
The successful candidate will be a licensed professional with at least 12 years of diverse design leadership experience. We utilize Revit, Rhino, Enscape and Adobe products within our workflow to collaborate with teams and communicate design solutions to owners, project stakeholders and construction professionals. Excellent communication and management skills are required.
You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining design continuity for projects from inception through completion. Essential skills will include managing the communications between the Architect and other design Consultants, Ownership,
Construction Professionals, and Public Authorities in matters concerning the project scope of services, development of the project design, etc., with direct responsibility for the successful execution of the project design.

Requirements
- Professional Degree in Architecture
- Architectural License required
- LEED accredited (preferred)
- 12+ years of professional experience in large scale, high profile, mixed-use, hospitality, office, high-rise multifamily and other commercial projects.
- Experience in all aspects and phases of the architectural design, document production, and construction administration including quality control in each.
- Proficient with Rhino, Enscape, Revit, Building Information Modeling systems (BIM), Bluebeam Revu, and other presentation and production software programs.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely; graphicly, verbally and in writing.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with others.
- Ability to lead and work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines, completing tasks with accuracy and attention to detail and coordination.
- Ability to work with integrity, trust, and commitment, while setting an example for others.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with the project teams, Ownership, stakeholder groups, local authorities, etc.
- Manage multiple aspects of client, team and project coordination and communication.
- Work with clients and other stakeholders to identify objectives and prepare options; conceptualize projects and establish key work priorities for development of design, production, scheduling, and budgeting.
- Manage, review, and lead the design of the projects, while advising and contributing to construction document production and throughout construction administration with an emphasis on maintaining design continuity.
- Coordinate and review the project documents and specifications.
- Interface with consultants, Ownership, and General Contractor to assure quality control of the documents and execution in the field.
- Provide leadership, motivation and development of the project team members and other design consultants.
- Dedicated to the mentorship of junior architects/designers of each project team to develop future project leaders.
- Provide superior service, quality work and timely production, honoring established deadlines.
- Obtain Owner approvals to maintain the timely progression of the overall design.
- Participate in the development of design delivery standards.
- Participate in marketing efforts, including attending industry conferences and delivering presentations.
- Actively promote the Firm’s products and services
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Resolve complex design issues by providing both innovative and practical technical solutions.
- Ensure designs meet codes, standards, regulations, and best practices.
